Trial Run — CMRS Inspection Underway

Surat Metro Phase 1 is in advanced trial runs. A dedicated 8.5 km stretch between Dream City and Althan Tenement began intensive trial operations on 29 March 2026, part of a ~500-hour test programme covering speed, braking, and signalling performance. The Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) inspection is underway; commercial passenger service will begin once the safety certificate is issued and the Gujarat Government announces the inauguration date.
