Bhimrad Depot and Control Centre Fully Commissioned
SMRL's primary train maintenance depot and Integrated Operations Control Centre at Bhimrad are fully commissioned and operational, housing all 24 Phase 1 train sets.
The Bhimrad Depot — Surat Metro's primary rolling stock maintenance facility and home to its Integrated Operations Control Centre (IOCC) — has been fully commissioned and is operational.
The 47-acre facility includes a 12-road maintenance shed capable of servicing all 24 Phase 1 train sets simultaneously, heavy maintenance workshops, a high-speed washing plant, crew facilities for 600 operations staff, and the IOCC that monitors all 32 stations, train movements, platform screen doors, and CCTV feeds from a single control room.
All 24 Phase 1 train sets are now housed and maintained at Bhimrad, which is designed to accommodate up to 40 train sets to support future fleet expansion.
'The moment we receive commercial launch approval, we can begin operations within 24 hours,' said SMRL's Operations Director.
